A Movie Car – C70

Anna Kruchowski

Some years back we provided a couple of C70 coupes for the filming ‘The Saint’ with Val Kilmer. There were some good scenes, but it seems much ended up on the cutting room floor. The movie was OK; I’d give it two Herrings out of five. They did manage to total one of our hand-built, very early pre-production cars filming the underground garage scene.

This recently came across our news desk:
Tom Cruise obviously doesn’t need a stunt man. The American actor is doing the tough scenes by himself. Preferably in a Volvo C70.

In the movie Wichita, a spy thriller coming up next year, Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz are playing a superspy and a lonely woman. In connection with the recording of the film, Cruise is handling a C70 in an impressive way.

See the TMZ video. Read an article about the recording in the Boston Herald.

The only reason that I went to see The Saint way back when was to see the new C70… it was an all too brief glimpse, but still exciting, and I was doubly excited to see that it was a manual car that Val Kilmer was thrashing around that parking garage. So sad to hear that it met a Hollywood-style demise… I wonder where those hand-built parts are now? Sigh…

Cool about the new C70′s starring role, and I hope it gets more screen time!
