Spend a night with a vampire; drive off with his car
I’ll admit it: I know next to nothing about Twilight. The worldwide book and movie sensation seems to have passed me over. My vampire knowledge goes about as far as the Bram Stoker book I referenced a few weeks ago. However, we have done some cool things with our cars being in the first two movies (C30 in Twilight and now XC60 in New Moon). One of those cool things happened about a year ago.
Last November, when 18-year-old Tiffany Kuhne, of Los Banos, Calif., was turned away from an autograph session with Twilight vampire Robert Pattinson (or R-Patz to the Twilight faithful) because the crowd at a San Francisco mall grew unruly, we, The Tyra Banks Show and Robert himself came to the rescue. The Tyra Banks Show flew Tiffany and two other teenagers from San Francisco to New York for a Twilight-themed show — though they had no idea that Robert and co-star Taylor Lautner would be there and that Tiffany would eventually win the on-screen vampire’s C30.
During The Tyra Banks Show filming, the Twilight stars cheered on Tiffany and the other two girls as they participated in a pie-eating contest, with the prize being “Twilight memorabilia.”
Two of the girls tied. Tiffany won a tiebreaker by precisely guessing the combined weight of the co-stars: 320 pounds. Tiffany was blindfolded and led outside to discover that the “memorabilia” she’d won was the C30 that Robert’s character drives in the movie.
Tiffany said that “winning the Vovlo C30 was the best surprise of my life. After reading the first page of Twilight, I was hooked. Edward’s Volvo became my dream car and I can’t believe that my dream came true. I am so grateful to Volvo for the amazing gift.”
We presented the car to Tiffany at the Century 16 Mountain View Theater in Mountain View, Calif., last December.
Almost a year later, weeks before New Moon arrives in theaters, Tiffany still feels like the luckiest person alive for winning Edward’s car.
“I am so blessed. Winning Edward’s C30 is the most incredible thing that ever happened to me. I love my car – I barely even drive it because I don’t want any scratches or anything to wreck it. It is my most prized possession.”
“I can’t wait until New Moon comes out. I already have tickets to the midnight showing on Nov. 20.”
