Volvo’s safe driving policy
It’s no surprise that we’ve had safe driving policies for our employees in place for some time. In fact, about 20 years ago, about every six months, our head of Government Regulations and Compliance would stand out front and see who was wearing their seat belt. Those caught not using one were called into HR and “suggested” they wear it while driving. This went on for years… until we were at 100 percent and all were “believers;” no need for Bill to stand outside and tally all who might have been non-believers.
Anyway, numerous distracted driving campaigns have popped up as of late (we like this one that Oprah is doing) and we’re encouraging other businesses to adopt stronger policies. You may also remember the ads we took out in USA Today and The Washington Post last September during the Distracted Driving Summit in Washington, D.C.
In fact, if you’re reading this and would like to copy our policy word for word and implement it at your company, feel free. Really. The sooner the better, I say.
Good week to you,
dan
