2012 Volvo Open House – Hemmings Daily

danjohnston

Mark McCourt, a journalist from Hemmings Motor News in Bennington, VT, came to our Volvo Open House this year. While I missed seeing him, it seems he had fun and was in the mood for a little dark humor sponsored on behalf of Greg and Will’s Volvo Hearse. In Sweden, cradle to grave means how they take care of their citizens. Many a baby’s first rides (was for my two daughters) was in a Volvo and at least some also took their last rides in a Volvo. So as we near Trick or Treat time, what better way to get in the mood than with Greg and Will’s car – a 1965 Volvo P210 Hearse. BTW, nice photos Mark, thanks.

Sweden gets it. One of our 1800 friends who married into the US and his family decided to return to his home country because it’s one of the best places in the world to raise a family.

We can certainly say the “Valhalla” is one sweet Swede ride indeed. I recall one fine tale that that Greg and Will told, with Will’s perfectly straight face telling of driving Valhalla either to or from Canada, and going through customs. The customs officer was inquiring about the casket that the fine automobile was simply *made* to carry and thus indeed does. It seems that the customs officer decided that he *really* did not need to inspect the Casket.
The tale of course was considerably longer and had me in absolute stitches.
